Public engagement success: IoO See Science Festival
20 November 2017
PhD student Erika Aquino gives a summary of the IoO's See Science Festival.
On Thursday 26th October over 50 researchers, students and staff from the IoO were involved in See Science, which was a festival exploring the science of sight aimed at engaging with the local community. St Luke’s Community Centre was taken over by fun, interactive and educational stalls displaying cutting edge research from 10 groups from the Institute. Research was made accessible to all ages and a diverse audience of over 110 attended.
It was a brilliant evening for both the public and those involved. Feedback was amazing with 100% positive replies from the audience and a genuine thirst for more. Researchers noted how great it was to share their work in a different way and the impact engaging with the public has on their research.
The event was organised by PhD student Erika Aquino after gaining a public engagement bursary from UCL Culture.
