Identity processes among gay and bisexual men of religious faith
Join this event to hear Rusi Jaspal explore how gay and bisexual men of faith reconcile religious and sexual identities.
This seminar will examine identity processes among gay and bisexual men of religious faith (GBMRF) through the lens of identity process theory from social psychology.
Drawing on data from several qualitative and quantitative studies conducted in various countries (including the UK, Lebanon, Iran and Colombia), the seminar will explore how GBMRF understand their religion and sexuality, how they attempt to reconcile these elements of identity and the impact of their identity configuration for feelings of self-esteem, self-efficacy, continuity and distinctiveness.
This event will be particularly useful for those interested in sexuality, religion, identity, psychology and queer theory.
