The Social Research Institute (formerly the Department of Social Science) is one of the leading centres in the UK for multidisciplinary teaching and research in the social sciences. With more than 180 academic, research and professional staff, we work to advance knowledge and to inform policy in areas including gender, families, education, employment, migration, inequalities, health and child/adult wellbeing.
Research is a major focus of the Institute with an annual research income of over £15 million. Our research work is organised within seven renowned centres.
Our staff includes psychologists, sociologists, anthropologists and economists. We have specialist, research-active staff able to supervise postgraduate research.
