Co-creating a father-inclusive practice and policy ecosystem
Join this event to hear Anna Tarrant share her cutting edge research into young fathers' experiences and ambitions for fatherhood, including her methodological innovations and the policy implications of her work.
Generational shifts towards involved and engaged fatherhood are being observed globally within families. Yet many men remain challenged in their ambitions to ‘be there’ for their families and engage in family life in the ways that they tell us that they want to.
Presenting findings from over a decade-long programme of qualitative longitudinal and participatory research with young fathers, called Following Young Fathers Further (FYFF), Anna outlines compelling evidence that the desire to be an involved father is an ambition held by many men, including those who are marginalised.
Yet for young fathers, their family participation is frequently challenged by the wider demands and constraints of an increasingly precarious youth labour market, conditional welfare systems and social stigma.
This in-person event will be particularly useful for those interested in policy-relevant research; work-life balance; and fatherhood.
