My UCL Experience

My UCL Experience is UCL's annual all-staff survey. It will help us understand how you feel about working at UCL right now so we can identify ways to improve your UCL experience.

It's been over 4 years since we last conducted an all-staff survey. The data from that survey has been used in many ways, from informing local action plans and strategies to providing the evidence we need for charter mark submissions.

But we need you to let us know how you feel about working at UCL right now. The responses you give to My UCL Experience will help us to identify:

  • The areas where we are doing well – so that we can celebrate and replicate them
  • The areas that need support – so that local areas can commit to three actions aimed at improving them

We will also commit to three actions to improve scores at an institutional level.

Is the survey anonymous?

My UCL Experience is confidential, meaning UCL won’t be able to link the responses you give back to you. We use some of your personal information from staff records to map where responses are coming from in UCL’s organisational structure and across different types of roles. This means we will be able to see areas where the scores are lower or higher so we can try and find out why. To protect your anonymity, we won’t report results with fewer than ten responses. It is vital that you give open and honest answers, but please avoid identifying yourself - so we can protect your confidentiality, as free-text responses will be available in full in the survey results.

When will the survey results lead to actions?

The responses you and colleagues from across UCL give will help us to identify:

  • The areas where we are doing well – so that we can celebrate and replicate them
  • The areas that need support – so that local areas can commit to three actions aimed at improving them

We will also commit to three actions to improve scores at an institutional level.

We expect to be able to share these actions with staff in May or June each year.

Your privacy

This survey is confidential, and your answers are completely protected.

This survey is run by Qlearsite on behalf of UCL Organisational Development (OD). OD respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data.

Please, read the Staff privacy notice carefully – it describes why and how we collect and use personal data and provides information about your rights. It applies to personal data provided to us, both by individuals themselves or by third parties and supplements the following wider UCL privacy notice:

No one will know whether you’ve taken this survey unless you make it known. The results will only show that feedback came from a certain area of the university (where there are ten or more responses) - for example, a specific team - so it’s impossible to identify who gave specific responses.

Be open and honest in any comments you write, but please avoid identifying yourself - so we can protect your confidentiality, as free-text responses will be available in full in the survey results (without redactions).
