Quiet rooms for staff use

Quiet rooms for staff for various uses.

Content

Purpose

1. Quiet rooms in the workplace can be used for breastfeeding, expressing milk, prayer, meditation, first aid, or rest, or for neurodivergent colleagues, disabled colleagues, staff experiencing menopause or anyone in need of a moment of quiet when feeling overwhelmed.

2. They may not offer the privacy required for expressing milk, such as a lock on the inside or opaque windows. Those suitable for expressing milk are identified below.  A section specifically for baby changing facilities has been included at the bottom.

3. More information on additional rooms specifically for prayer/contemplation is available.

4. If you are a user of one of the following rooms and can give us any details on how to get access to the rooms or whether it isn’t suitable for expressing milk, please let the Employment Policy Team know.
