National Apprenticeship Week 5-9 February 2024 Wrap-up

What a week!

It is Valentine’s Day and we are all full of love and admiration for those around us. We would like to take this opportunity to give a big thank you and show our appreciation for all those who helped and supported the National Apprenticeship Week (NAW) activities hosted by the UCL Apprenticeship Managers, Paula Sandamas and Uzma Sadiq, in-person and online.

The activities highlighted some of the great collaborations between the London and South Universities with two very successful online events, which included representation from our UCL apprentices and apprentice managers Martin Howells, Aymen Belkacemi and Faiszarn Riaz, who shared their experiences and reflections with the wider apprenticeship communities in Higher Education.

We had local engagement in Camden (UCL Academy) and Newham (Sixth form College), where we supported their apprenticeship and career fairs with our apprentices leading conversations and answering questions, showcasing the benefits and challenges of being an apprentice to young people and their teachers.

Our NAW celebration was a lovely late afternoon affair, celebrating the success of our achieving apprentices over the last year and awarding the departments investing in the future with apprenticeships. Not to forget a huge thank you to the “graduation bear” for its guest appearance at the celebration.
