First in-person Q&A event for new starters
4 October 2023
As part of the Belong at UCL programme delivered by Organisational Development, each month a Q&A session is delivered to new professional and academic staff at UCL. This event provides a valuable opportunity for new starters to pose questions to Senior UCL staff in an open forum.

On the 20 of September, the first in-person session was delivered since the beginning of the pandemic with great success. Executive Director of Operations, Ian Dancy, UCL Chief Financial Officer, Charu Gorasia, and Students' Union UCL's Activities & Engagement Officer, Mary McHarg participated as a panel and took questions from 33 new starters who attended.
Forty-five minutes of rich discussions was followed by a networking event which gave new starters the unique chance to meet their new colleagues working across many departments and therefore broaden their network at UCL.
I enjoyed most hearing about UCL from Senior Leadership; learning more about UCL's values; and meeting new colleagues. Members of the Senior Leadership team who led the session were very friendly and approachable, and also happy to be working at UCL.’ (A quote by a participant)
Over the course of the next three months, three sessions will take place. The October and November session online and the December session in-person. New starters are encouraged to attend at least one of the sessions as part of their induction programme at UCL. The sessions are always rich with information, fun, and a fantastic way to establish a sense of belonging at UCL.
If you have recently started at UCL, please register for a session.
