Data Technician Early Career Apprenticeship

An apprenticeship that provides an opportunity to develop your data skills to allow you to present and analyse data to provide effective operational service and support business outcomes.

What is it?

The collection and processing of data supports the work that we do as a World class university. Managing accurate data allows us to understand our operations better and supports our business outcomes. Data Technician apprentices are employed in administrative and support roles across a range of areas within UCL. You will work as part of a team to collect, process, manage, manipulate and present data to collegues and managers so that effective decisions are made. You will contribute to the effectiveness of the organisation and use strong communication skills to provide high levels of service.

We offer the Data Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship over a 15-18 month period which provides the grounding for a career in UCL professional services. During your apprenticeship you will work on projects relevant to your role to develop your skills.

All training is delivered online.

Who is it for?

These programmes are suitable for School or College Leavers who have a keen interest in developing a career in administration or management and leadership in the Higher Education Sector. This also may be suitable for career changers or graduates who wish to pursue a career in Higher Education Professional Services or Management.

As this is funded through the Apprenticeship Levy there are specific eligibility criteria that applicants should meet.

We expect all applicants to have a minimum of GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/ Level 4 or above.

You will be fully supported throughout your apprenticeship by your line manager, a mentor, the HR Apprenticeship team and a coach from our training provider.

We hope that this programme will prepare you for a long-term career at UCL. You will be supported to make applications for permanent roles towards the end of your apprenticeship.

UCL has an active Data and Insight Community of Practice which provides training, support and network opportunities to staff across the organisation.

Permanent staff have further opportunities to undertake apprenticeships at a higher level of study including Data Analyst (Level 4), Business Analyst (Level 4) as well as Management and Leadership programmes.

How do I apply?

We work closely with our partners at LB Camden to provide opportunities for local residents or school/ college leavers from Camden and will prioritise these applications.

All vacancies are advertised on our job website. Applications will be accepted through the Find an Apprenticeship website and are managed on our behalf by our training provider. Shortlisted applicants are invited to attend an in-person interview.
