Early detection is ubiquitously beneficial for management and effective treatment of disease. New and innovative technologies are particularly important with the ageing population and increasing prevalence of chronic diseases and age-related multi-morbidity.
The UCL Institute of Healthcare Engineering and the UCLH Biomedical Research Centre are organising a joint event which aims to address the challenges of "Early diagnosis", to identify diseases and conditions early and accurately, so they can be mitigated, managed, and have a reduced impact on patients’ quality of life.
By fostering knowledge exchange and by providing networking opportunities between policy, research, business, charity and PPI communities we aim to build the research community in this area. The network will identify emerging technologies and new opportunities for collaboration to improve the lives of the population at large and address some of the key challenges of an ageing society.
Register for this event to:
- Obtain exposure to the range of current challenges in early-detection of disease
- Gain insight into the current Early Diagnosis technology landscape and future opportunities.
- Learn about current approaches, challenges and the opportunities available to address early disease detection challenges through a variety of funding programmes, including the UK Government’s Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF).
- Network with specialists from policy, research, charity, business and patient sectors
- Participate in a community building session to generate, discuss new ideas and approaches to co-create a shared vision for accelerating detection of disease.
The early detection themes to be discussed in this workshop from the recent UK Government’s “Life Sciences” sector deal will be:
- Cancer
- Dementia
- Heart diseases
- Respiratory diseases
Breaks for networking, lunch and a post event drinks reception will be provided.
