Join us for an evening panel discussion where experts from across sectors in the UK and the Netherlands will discuss trends, challenges, and future solutions in the field of circularity.
The theme of circularity has grown in popularity over the last decade, as challenges around resource availability and environmental erosion have increased across the globe. With the world population expected to reach 9 billion by 2050, and with an estimated 70% of this population expected to be concentrated in urban areas, urban systems are contributing ever more to these challenges. Experts in, and proponents of, circularity across sectors widely agree that the impact of these urban systems must be mitigated through the implementation of circular practices and systems.
This event, hosted by UCL Global Engagement and the UCL Circularity Hub, in partnership with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in London, will bring together representatives from academia, industry, and policy for a conversation around circularity. Panel experts will discuss innovative approaches to a circular economy, why these approaches are necessary, and what they think the future holds for this field.
Guest speakers will include: H.E. Mr. Karel J.G. van Oosterom, Dutch Ambassador to the UK and Prof Geraint Rees, UCL Vice-Provost (Research, Innovation, and Global Engagement).
This event is open to all.
