About the UCL East Lunch Hour Lecture:
Dr Qasim Rafiq will explore the challenges and opportunities of manufacturing advanced personalised therapies, and the impact these regenerative, curative treatments will have on the treating previous unmet clinical need. Dr Rafiq will discuss what advanced therapies are, how they will revolutionise healthcare and the challenges involved in manufacturing these novel therapeutics at a scale and cost that meets patient needs.

About the Speaker

Dr Qasim Rafiq

Associate Professor of Bioprocessing of Regenerative, Cellular and Gene Therapy at UCL Department of Biochemical Engineering

Qasim is an Associate Professor in Cell and Gene Therapy Bioprocess Engineering. He is Chartered Engineer (CEng), a Chartered Scientist (CSci), a  Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and was recognised as one of the top 20 influential and inspirational individuals in Advanced Medicine for 2020 by The Medicine Maker listed amongst Nobel Laureates, multi-national CEOs and leading scientists.
