Quinault Bursary funded Research Report – by Sara Karim
12 January 2023
BA Comparative Literature student Sara Karim, recipient of the Quinault Travel Bursary, has successfully completed a report on her research, carried out with the fund’s support.
Here is a short summary of the project and findings from Sara:
“Thanks to generous funding from the Quinault Bursary, during September to December 2022, following my year of study abroad at Universität Heidelberg, I participated in a research project based on Karoline von Günderrode and the members of her family. I analysed the exhibition of her works held at the Deutsches Romantik Museum in Frankfurt.
Throughout my exploration of these materials, I detected themes of nature and philosophy, an appreciation and toleration of different cultures and the impact of her familial interactions and her literary interactions with the Heidelberg Romantics. I cooperated with Dr Joanna Raisbeck, University of Oxford, the Freies Deutsches Hochstift and the Deutsches Romantik Museum. Upon the completion of my project, I wrote a project report that included my analysis of Günderrode’s works.”
