A centenary of Dutch Studies at UCL (1919-2019)

UCL Dutch is celebrating its centenary this year. The Dutch Studies Department was set up at UCL in 1919 as a soft diplomacy effort after the devastation of the First World War. Still going strong a hundred years later, we would like to invite you to a celebratory event on 9 November 2019 at UCL where you can get (re-)acquainted with your peers and other sympathisers of the Department. Let’s raise a glass together to the next 100 years!
We are very pleased to announce that Axel Rueger, recently appointed chief executive of the Royal Academy, former director of the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam and curator of the Low Countries collections at the National Gallery, will entertain us with what is promising to be a visually engaging talk on his experiences of working in the art world and brokering relations between the UK and the Low Countries. The talk will start at 5pm and will be followed by a wine reception.
