Become a European Institute Student Ambassador

Are you interested in European politics, culture and identity? Would you like to gain valuable experience advising on how best to engage UCL students, promoting the Institute in the student community and participating in and brainstorming ideas for events?

As a UCL European Institute Ambassador, you will work alongside a small group of fellow student volunteers, the UCL European Institute interns and UCL European Institute staff to help engage students in the work of the Institute, and contribute new ideas for Europe-focused events, content and activity at UCL.

Key information

  • x4 roles are avaiable for the duration of the academic year
  • Ambassador positions are open to all UCL students, across the disciplines and at any level of study
  • These are voluntary roles. Ambassadors will be recognised and celebrated via the website, and will have the opportunity to shape their contributions/access opportunities in line with their areas of expertise or interest, and their capacity.

Role duties

UCL European Institute Ambassadors will:

  • Promote the UCL European Institute, its role and activities to a student audience
  • Join one 1.5 hour meeting per term to contribute/brainstorm ideas about how the UCL European Institute can most effectively engage a student audience and identify topics/formats which may be of particular interest
  • Develop relationships with relevant student societies and explore opportunities for collaboration
  • Help conceptualise, plan, organise and promote public events on behalf of the European Institute

Additional activities, to be undertaken in line with individuals’ interest and/or capacity:

  • Subject to interest/capacity, research, write or commission content for the UCL Europe blog and UCL European Institute website
  • Create social media posts and contribute to the development of the EI’s presence on Instagram and other student-facing platforms
  • Organise and/or participate in EI student masterclasses or other student-led activity, in cooperation with UCL European Institute staff
  • Participate in UCL European Institute workshops, roundtables and advisory board meeting
