On 19 May, the UCL European Institute convened a discussion with cross-UCL colleagues and Frédérique Aït Touati (FAT), Director of the Sciences Po Experimental Programme in Political Arts (SPEAP).

To open the discussion, Frédérique Aït Touati provided an overview of the Sciences Po Experimental Programme in Political Arts (SPEAP). This one-year Masters’ programme was founded by French philosopher Bruno Latour and is aimed at experienced, mid-career professionals from a range of backgrounds, such as architects, designers, academics, public servants, managers, researchers, administrators, activists and curators).  Multidisciplinary in nature, the programme is driven by key notions of experimentation, inquiry and innovation, and explores points of articulation and connection between scientific, artistic, and political fields.

Frédérique reflected on the challenges and opportunities presented by the programme since its inception in 2011, leading to a discussion between UCL colleagues on the programme’s relevance and potential as a source of inspiration for UCL. As a follow up to this workshop, the European Institute is exploring future collaboration with SPEAP, as well as appetite for a CPD offer and a future Masters programme in this space.
