Advisory Board Member Awarded MBE

Congratulations to Janet Zmroczek, longtime member of the European Institute Advisory Board, who has been honoured with an MBE in King Charles’ first Birthday Honours.
Janet Zmroczek has been awarded an MBE for services to literature and to heritage. She was Head of European and Americas Collections at the British Library.
She was a member of both the UCL European Institute’s Advisory Board for many years.
Before retiring in 2022, Janet served the British Library for almost 39 years. She was a key figure in the delivery of the Library’s Google Books digitisation project, which began in 2011 and has to date made over 600,000 works freely available online and attract millions of views. Janet helped inform the Library’s response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, particularly with regard to the acquisition of research material.
