Ten projects supported under UCL Music Futures
3 April 2023
We are excited to present the ten projects supported under Music Futures, our initiative dedicated to thinking, writing and performing music.
UCL Music Futures is jointly hosted by the UCL European Institute and the UCL Institute of Advanced Studies, with support from UCL Grand Challenges. In the absence of a dedicated music department, it connects the many UCL scholars interested in music and builds bridges between research and creative practice.
This year’s projects include a short film, conversation-concerts and other public events, research and creative workshops, and a platform for collaborations between UCL researchers and the Royal Academy of Music. Topics range from the effect of music on people living with dementia, to soundscapes of warnings, an Italian Renaissance virtuosa, the translation of French art song and a music curriculum reflecting the kind of music young people listen to today.
