The Art of Diplomacy: A Masterclass with Bart Vodderie

On Thursday 27th April we hosted a masterclass with Bart Vodderie, currently Brexit lead at the EU Delegation to the UK for UCL students.

The UCL European Institute was proud to welcome Bart Vodderie, Brexit lead at the EU Delegation to the United Kingdom, to UCL for a student masterclass on the art and practice of diplomacy.

Drawing on insights from his diplomatic career, which has spanned postings in the Belgian Embassy to Uganda, the Belgian Permanent Representation to the EU and the EU Delegation to the UK, Bart shared his reflections on what diplomacy is, the role of diplomacy in an EU context, and what it takes to be a good diplomat, from building networks to reading between the lines.

The session was co-organised with UCL School of Public Policy and European and International Social and Political Studies (EISPS), and co-hosted with UCL Diplomacy Society.
