Working Paper Launch: The Process of Brexit

3 February 2017

Way Out Sign

The European Institute is pleased to announce publication of its latest working paper: "The Process of Brexit: What Comes Next?" by renowned constitutional expert Dr Alan Renwick of the UCL Constitution Unit.

The publication is the latest in a series of UCL European Institute working papers aimed at critically analysing significant features of the political and legal landscape after the EU referendum. "The Process of Brexit: What Comes Next?" is authored by Dr Alan Renwick, Deputy Director of the UCL Constitution Unit, and an expert on legal and constitutional matters in the UK.

In the working paper, Dr Renwick examines how the Brexit process will unfold after the triggering of Article 50 at the end of March. He sets out the different potential outcomes of the negotiations, ranging from a full, comprehensive deal with the EU, to the absence of an agreement and automatic withdrawal after two years. He also examines the role of the government, parliament, and the courts in the process, as well as the devolved administrations and the European institutions and member-states themselves.
