Civilisations Event Highlights

26 July 2017

Watch the highlights from the recent CREDOC event on the mobilisation of Western Civilisation, held in the British Library on 6 June 2017, and chaired by the Executive Director of the UCL European Institute, Dr Uta Staiger.

The workshop, organised by the UCL Centre for Research on the Dynamics of Civilisation, examined the contemporary mobilization of 'Western Civilisation' through an historical, sociological and comparative perspective, reflecting on the emergence of the concept of 'Western civilisation' in the Enlightenment and the then presumption that Western values consist in rationality, secularity, egalitarianism and liberal democracy.
