The European Institute is seeking to appoint a part-time Institute Manager responsible for leading on the administrative and financial management of the Institute.

The European Institute is UCL's hub for research, collaboration, and information on Europe and the European Union. The Institute is part of UCL's new Institute of Advanced Studies in the Humanities and Social Sciences. The Institute currently has two full-time staff, Executive Director Dr Uta Staiger and Senior Research Associate Dr Claudia Sternberg (on maternity leave until January 2018 and covered by Dr Ben Martill). The Institute is represented by an Academic Director who is appointed for a 3-year term; currently Professor Piet Eeckhout.

The Institute Manager will be responsible for leading on the administrative management of the Institute, including the organisational and logistical aspects of the Institute's event programme; developing and implementing effective communication strategies; managing the EI's online presence; responsible for the financial management of the Institute; promoting the Institute within UCL; and working with the Executive Director and the Senior Research Associate in developing existing and new relationships with external organisations, both in the UK and the EU.

The post holder will be educated to degree level or equivalent in European or EU studies or a related discipline, and have significant administrative experience of working in a large organisation, preferably within the Higher Education sector. They will have experience of project management, organising events, and servicing meetings.

The successful candidate must have proven experience managing budgets and in communication, social media, and website management. They must be self-motivated, with the ability to make decisions, set priorities and work independently and unsupervised.
