No fine print and no supplementary reading required: just bring your favorite or least favorite literary or journalistic text on the region (that's right, no research articles allowed!), tell us about it, and let's weave the threads of readings and interpretations into a great conversation. You read something recently and loved it? Bring it. You read something and hated it? Bring it, well-substantiated critical reflections are also encouraged. You can interpret ‘text’ as freely as you want – it could be part of a novel, story, poem, or indeed a song or even a meme (and short is definitely good!). And if nothing comes to mind – don’t worry, come anyway!

The playshop will be led by Joanna Elmy, Bulgarian-born and US-based European Literary Map of London inaugural Writer in Residence. Joanna, who is also a journalist and researcher, will be sharing excerpts by Milan Kundera, Oksana Zabuzhko, Georgi Markov, and Olga Tokarczuk among others. Her promise: it will be fun. Really. Come.
