The European Institute is pleased to announce an evening of discussion on the study of religious diversity and the complexities of religion in the modern world. The event celebrates the launch of the edited volume 'Negotiating Religion: Cross-disciplinary Perspectives' by prominent UCL scholars Francois Guesnet, Cecile Laborde and Lois Lee.
The book examines how the religious pluralism and varying levels of religious commitment that characterise the present global order are negotiated. It addresses from multiple perspectives the question of how religious communities create and defend their place in society, a question which has gained increasing prominence in response to claims of global 'de-secularisation'.
The evening begins with a reception at 6.30pm and features the editors in conversation with:
- Claire Dwyer (Co-Director, UCL Migration Research Unit)
- Neil Jameson (Executive Director, Citizens UK)
- Myriam Hunter-Henin (Co-Director, UCL Institute of Global Law)
- David Perfect (Research Manager, Equalities and Human Rights Commission)
