Diversity

For our work on European diversity and values, we work with UCL academic experts from digital humanities, spatial analysis, literary scholarship, anthropology and European history on two specific strands: [Black Europe] and our European Literary Map of London.

Title: Portraits of Pedro Sunda, Dom Miguel de Castro and Diego Bemba Creator: Unknown Dutch artist Institution: Statens Museum for Kunst Public Domain
  • [Black Europe] aims to confronts the presumption of whiteness as the norm in the study of Europe, interrogating and addressing the lacunae, prevailing assumptions and biases of research on Europe, and to challenging the institutional dimensions flowing from them. Click on the box below to find out more about this new research cluster we have been developing, and our related event series and planned festival.
  • Our European Literary Map of London allows users anywhere to experience how London has left an impression on Europe’s writers, artists and intellectuals through the ages. This interactive online map is framed by an exhibition, events and school engagement activities.

This work strand forms part of our 2023-26 Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence work programme, EURIDES - European Identity, Diversity, Energy, Security.
