The Infections in Primary Care Research Group was established in 2014. 

The grouping is involved in research on sexually transmitted infections and also collaborates on research in other areas, such as respiratory and gastrointestinal infection. 

It is part of the National Institute for Health Research Health Protection Research Unit (NIHR HPRU) in Blood Borne and Sexually Transmitted Infections (BBSTI).

Our work has included the Food Standards Agency funded study of infectious intestinal disease led by University of Manchester.

We are also linked with PRIMENT Clinical Trials Unit and provide trial methodological support.
