Health and Social Surveys Research Group

The Health and Social Surveys Research Group (HSSRG) studies population health (including health behaviours and treatments), the determinants of population health, and inequalities in health.

How we research

Much of the group's research is carried out using large population surveys that collect data on health, economic and social issues, using a variety of survey methods and statistical techniques.

Qualitative methods also feature in the research conducted by the group. The group has around 20 staff. It is multidisciplinary, with epidemiology, sociology, statistics, public health, nutrition, demography and geography all represented.

Most of our research is carried out collaboratively with other groups and institutions, most particularly with NatCen Social Research
