UCL Health and Society Summer School: Social Determinants of Health

18 July 2017

We are celebrating the success of the 10th annual summer school (3-7 July 2017), organised by Ruth Bell, Anne Peasey and Eric Brunner from the Research Department of Epidemiology and Public Health, with excellent administrative support from Sophie Skinner.

HSSE-Summer-School-2017 Sessions were run by a multidisciplinary team of academics from across IEHC.  Participants came from 20 countries across six continents.

In the words of participants:

  • "UCL is where the SDoH movement started and Prof Marmot will inspire you"
  • "social determinants of health from a global (international) perspective"
  • "an eye opening experience with a wealth of diverse lectures discussing health inequalities"
  • "an intense, informative public health course which empowers all participants"
  • "a very special opportunity to explore and understand the role of all of us in addressing health inequalities"
  • "a chance to hear from leading academics in the field"
  • "excellent networking opportunities"
  • "highly recommended for policy-makers and researchers"

We would like to thank everyone who helped with the teaching and organisation of the summer school.
