Congratulations to Emily McBride who has been awarded
a prestigious 3 year

nihr.ac.uk/" target="_blank">National Institute for Health Research Doctoral Research
Fellowship (NIHR DRF). Emily will primarily focus on reducing anxiety and
distress in NHS patients receiving cervical cancer screening test results. This
is because cervical screening procedures are changing to HPV Primary Testing in
England from 2019, meaning the way in which test results are communicated needs
to be nationally reviewed. The aim is to directly inform wording of NHS test
result letters and develop a leaflet to accompany letters, targeted at
minimising unnecessary anxiety and maximising future screening attendance.
