For the first time the world's leading scientist on health inequalities, Professor Sir Michael Marmot, shares his personal observations on the evidence he has collected over the last 40 years since he was a medical student in Sydney, Australia, through to his ground breaking research on the Whitehall Studies, which documented the social gradient, right up to his work today as Director of the UCL Institute of Health Equity - the world's leading think tank on health inequalities. Sir Michael will be interviewed by The Lancet's Executive Editor, Tamara Lucas, with the 'The Health Gap: The Challenge of an Unequal World' chaired by UCL's Provost, Professor Michael Arthur.
