Harikesan started his PhD in September 2022, under the supervision of Professor Tiziana Rossetto (UCL). He is using a mixed methods approach to develop natural hazard fragility and vulnerability functions for renewable energy infrastructure.
Harikesan has a BEng in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southampton, which included a year in automotive manufacturing at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars (BMW Group). His final year project involved the computational modelling of human placental nanopores in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine, to improve medical knowledge on fetal exposure. In 2022, he completed an MSc in Engineering for International Development at UCL. During this, he worked with social enterprise, Young at Heart Ghana, to analyse infrastructural barriers to Ed-Tech accessibility in Ghana. His MSc dissertation focussed on the development of empirical tsunami fragility functions for the Sri Lankan education system within the ReSCOOL partnership.
