Devang Lad

Devang Lad is a PhD student at CEGE working in the domain of Structural Health Monitoring. His work aims at seismic risk assessment of ageing concrete and steel structurestaking into consideration the deterioration effects that occur over the structure’s lifetime. Currently, his work focuses on the effects of corrosion on Reinforced Concrete and Steel frame structures, finite element modelling strategies, and the influence of corrosion on the seismic vulnerability and risk of such.Devang has completed his Master of Technology (MTech) with specialisation in Structural Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT-B) in 2018, and his Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering from Mumbai University in 2016. He has worked as a lab assistant for the heavy structure’s lab at IIT-B, performing educational experimental tests for undergrad students and conducting tutorials on the Design of Steel Structures.

After his Master’s Degree, from 2018 to 2021, he has worked as an assistant design engineer within the bridge design team. He has worked on various bridges typologies, including prestressed concrete (PSC) I-girder bridges, composite I-girder bridges, steel bridges, balance-cantilever bridges, and extradosed bridges. Also, he was part of a team working on detail design of natural draught cooling tower (NDCT). Additionally, in his early career, he gained valuable practical experience by working as a Trainee engineer at a few construction sites of a residential building in Mumbai.
