EEE academic elected President of the European Materials Research Society
9 June 2023
Professor Tony Kenyon is the second UCL Electronic and Electrical Engineering (EEE) academic elected, the previous being Professor Ian Boyd, who was president 1996-97.
The European Materials Research Society (E-MRS), with a membership of over 4,000 is the premier society in Europe for researchers studying functional materials, from semiconductors to nanomaterials and biomaterials.
As well as organising two prestigious conferences each year, E-MRS acts as a voice for European researchers with funders and governments, and coordinates with global organisations. This year, E-MRS celebrated 40 years since its inception.
On being elected, Prof. Kenyon stated:
“I am delighted to have been elected president of E-MRS. I have been coming to its meetings for over 20 years, and I really value the opportunity to help the society continue to support and strengthen the European materials research community. E-MRS makes an important contribution to scientific cooperation; long may it last.
Tony’s stint will commence on 1 September 2023.
