Dr Adnan Mehonic appointed as a proleptic lecturer in Electronic Materials & Devices Group.

2 July 2019

Dr Adnan Mehonic has been appointed as a proleptic lecturer in Electronic Materials & Devices Group. Adnan is a Royal Academy of Engineering Research Fellow (“Next-generation adaptive electronics for neuromorphic engineering”), one of only nine funded in 2017.

Adnan Mehonic

Adnan is working on the development of power-efficient computing systems (neuromorphic systems) based on memristors, which are emerging nanoelectronic devices. He is interested in non-von Neumann computing paradigms where the physics of memristive devices is harnessed to perform both memory and computing in the same medium without the need to shuttle data between memory and processing units. His work includes co-design of devices, circuits and algorithms that would enable on-chip implementation of machine learning/artificial intelligence with orders of magnitude improvement in speed and power efficiency. Increased on-device processing is crucial for the growing network of ‘Internet of Things’ devices, which will operate without the dependence on cloud-computing.

Adnan is a member of the Institute of Communication and Connected Systems and the Nanoelectronics and Nanophotonics Lab.

Details on RAEng Research Fellowship can be found on the ICCS website.
