On 9th May, PhD researcher Scott Young came second place in the UCL Faculty of Engineering Sciences 3 Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition for his presentation titled 'Overcoming Failure Mechanisms in Solid-State Li-Ion Batteries'. His success in the competition follows being one of five winners of the Chemical Engineering Department 3MT competition in April.

The 3MT is an academic competition that challenges PhD students to present their research within 3 minutes to a general audience. 3MT celebrates the discoveries made by research students and encourages communicating the importance of research to the broader community. Using just one PowerPoint slide and no additional props or electronic media, postgraduate researchers were required to present their research in just 3 minutes!
