Background

Born and raised in Porthmadog,North Wales, Llŷr attended Cardiff University in 2015 to complete an integrated Master’s in chemistry. The final year project focused primarily on the synthesis of novel heterocyclic ligands and their coordination to precious metals. Further study was completed mostly on the luminescent properties of heterometallic complexes. Upon completion of the undergraduate Master’s, Llŷr gained experience as a teacher at Ysgol Glantaf – a Welsh language secondary school in Cardiff before later joining the EIL in 2023.

Research Summary

Llŷr's current research is in water and thermal management diagnostics and control within fuel cell systems under the supervision of Dr Thomas Miller.
