Professor Timothy Christensen awarded European Research Council (ERC) Grant
24 November 2023
Congratulations to UCL Economist, Professor Timothy Christensen who has been awarded an ERC Consolidator grant.
Professor Christensen will use the grant to explore his ambitious research agenda on "Econometrics for New Data: Theory, Methods, and Applications”.
Research Summary
Recently, there has been an explosion in the use of unstructured data (e.g., text, images, etc) across all applied fields of economics. However, the methodologies employed have been largely ad hoc and lacking in theoretical guarantees. The purpose of the grant is to develop new statistical theory and new methodology to guide the use of unstructured data in quantitative economic modeling. As such, it has great potential to improve the credibility and reliability of empirical work using unstructured data.
