Four UCL Economics academics promoted in 2022-23

We are delighted to announce the promotion of four of our academics from 1 October 2023.
Alex Gorbenko, promoted to Professor of Economics and Finance
Alex is an expert in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and private equity. His recent research has examined optimal timing and design of M&A, differences in valuing companies by potential strategic and financial (PE) acquirers and deal selection and contracting in VC.
Ralph Luetticke, promoted to Associate Professor of Economics
Ralph joined the Department in 2016. His research studies the conduct of fiscal and monetary policy as well as the sources of business cycles with new tools that allow us to take household heterogeneity into account in models and data.
Ramin Nassehi, promoted to Associate Professor of Economics (Teaching)
Ramin joined UCL Economics in January 2018. He is a member of Centre for Teaching and Learning Economics (CTaLE) and a contributor to the CORE Econ project and Royal Economic Society’s “Discover Economics” initiative.
Silvia Dal Bianco, promoted to Associate Professor of Economics (Teaching)
Silvia joined the Department in January 2018. Her research focuses on development economics, crypto-economics and economics education, and she teaches undergraduate programme modules including Economics of the Public Sector and Economics of Money and Banking.
