Ten UCL Economics academics promoted in 2021-22

We are very pleased to announce that ten of our academics have been promoted into various positions from 1 October 2022.

Academics who have been promoted in UCL Economics

The Department would like to congratulate all ten members of the Department who have been promoted this year from 1 October 2022. These promotions are richly deserved and our colleagues have made first-class contributions to the Department and Economics as a whole.

Valerie Lechene: promoted to Professor

Valerie Lechene
Valerie is an applied microeconomist, interested in understanding the behaviour of individuals, both theoretically and empirically, with the aim of informing policy.

Attila Lindner: promoted to Professor

Attila Lindner
Attila joined the Department in 2015 and his research focuses on Labor Economics, Public Economics, Psychology and Economics.

Daniel Wilhelm: promoted to Professor

Daniel Wilhelm
Daniel joined UCL and the Centre for Microdata Methods and Practice (cemmap) in summer 2012 after finishing his PhD at the University of Chicago. His research interests focus on econometric theory and applied econometrics.

Frank Witte: promoted to Professor (Teaching)

Witte
Frank has been with the Department since 2010 and is Department Tutor and Exam Board Chair. His research centres on econophysics, the philosophy and economics of science and environmental economics.

Wei Cui: promoted to Associate Professor

Wei Cui
Wei researches macroeconomics and financial economics and has been a member of the Department since 2013.

Terri Kneeland: promoted to Associate Professor

Terri Kneeland
Terri joined UCL in 2013 and focuses her research on experimental economics, behavioural economics and game theory.

Hyejin Ku: promoted to Associate Professor

Hyejin Ku
Hyejin has expertise in labour economics, applied microeconomics and economic development. She joined UCL in 2018 and is also Deputy Director of the Centre for Research and Analysis of Migration (CReAM).

Suphanit Piyapromdee: promoted to Associate Professor

Suphanit Piyapromdee
Suphanit joined the Department in 2014 and is also EDI Committee Chair. Her research focuses on labour economics and development economics.

Michela Tincani: promoted to Associate Professor

Michela Tincani
Michela’s research covers education, inequality, beliefs and personality traits. She has been a member of the Department and a Research Fellow for the Institute for Fiscal Studies since 2015.

Dunli Li: promoted to Associate Professor (Teaching)

Dunli Li
Dunli is currently Co-Director of the BSc Economics programme and her economics expertise is in applied economics and economic growth.
