The award was judged by a number of experienced journalists, and other industry experts – previously from titles including the Press Association, Sky News, gal-dem, Metro, The Telegraph, The Times, i, Daily Mail and HuffPost UK.

The Economic Tribune team commented, "Our main aim right from the beginning was to put the readers first. As passionate economics and politics students, all of us chose to explore diverse fields within the social sciences, conduct research, and present them in a reader friendly way. This award exemplifies our belief in the new initiatives we took this year and the revisions we made to our content. We also want to say a huge thank you to all our readers, students, professors, and The Economist’s Society for the constant support throughout the year!"

The SPA organises some of the most prestigious awards for student journalists in the UK and Ireland cover 20 categories from sports to news to the coveted Best Publication award.

The Economic Tribune has been running as UCL's official Economics student publication since 2012 and aims to provide a forum for students to discuss ideas as well as providing the wider UCL community with a window into cutting edge economic research.
