Success for leading oral medicine researcher and colleague
19 March 2019
Last week, Professor Joanna Zakrzewska, Honorary Consultant in Facial Pain in UCLH Eastman Dental Hospital, gave the 2019 Charles Tomes Lecture at the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
Professor Zakrzewska reviewed the challenges that orofacial pain brings to both patients, their carers and the challenges that clinicians may encounter and overcome to manage such, often complex, disease.
Trigeminal neuralgia grant success
Professor Zakrzewska, also an Honorary Professor at the Institute, has also been awarded prestigious grants from the Rosetrees Trust and the Trigeminal Neuralgia Association UK to undertake studies of the long term outcome of trigeminal neuralgia.
This will enable us to drive forward research to provide an improved understanding of the long-term implications of this complex and sometimes disabling orofacial disorder.
Many congratulations to Joanna on these recent achievements!
