From Trinidad & Tobago, studying Oral Surgery MClinDent (Advanced Training)
I like that the classes are small coupled with the vast experience of the lecturers and their willingness to share their knowledge in a friendly atmosphere. Staff in my department are quite approachable and supportive to students. The course content, quality, training techniques and high performance levels impressed me immensely. Being located in central London it is well situated to allow engagement in the art, history and culture of the city.
I have had exposure to state-of-the-art facilities at the Macmillan Cancer Centre allowing for observation of top oral and maxillofacial surgeons in their management of patients. Other opportunities include weekly attendance at multidisciplinary Team meetings on head and neck cancer management at Macmillan Cancer Centre and the chance to meet students from many parts of the world and learn about their respective countries and cultures.
After graduation I would like to adopt some of the systems and mechanisms of dental service that I have learnt here and introduce them to the provision of oral health care in my home country. Also to get involved in university teaching of oral health care professionals within the West Indies.
