We are offering a full-time, 3-year PhD studentship in Auditory Cognitive Neuroscience. The project will use behavioural measures, eye tracking, and EEG brain imaging to develop new methods for assessing listening effort and selective auditory attention.
The Ear Institute, situated within one of the strongest neuroscience communities in the world at University College London, provides state-of-the-art research facilities and is one of the foremost centres for hearing-related research within Europe. Neuroscience at UCL is ranked first in Europe and second in the world according to Thomson Reuters Essential Science Indicators. UCL is a highly interdisciplinary and collaborative environment that provides excellent opportunities for training and career development.
Key Requirements
- Applicants should hold or expect to receive a minimum upper second degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Audiology, Psychology, Neuroscience, Engineering).
- Previous experience with auditory research, signal processing and/or acoustics is desirable.
Funding notes
The studentship is funded for three years by RNID (subject to contract) and includes fees (UK UCL PhD rate) and a yearly stipend at the standard UCL rate which starts at £20,622 in 2023/24.
Eligibility
The full studentship (tuition fees and salary stipend) is eligible to all UK nationals and some EU nationals depending on their settlement status. Only UK Home rate tuition fees can be covered.
Applicants who will incur international fees are welcome to apply but they must show that they can supplement the difference between UK and international fees in their application.
