Cortexlab

We investigate these questions with a combination of experiment and computational analysis. We work mostly in the mouse brain, with techniques such as neuromics, high-count electrodes (Neuropixels), optogenetics, imaging, operant conditioning, and virtual reality simulation.
The laboratory is a joint effort of Matteo Carandini and Kenneth Harris. It involves a diverse team with expertise ranging from biology to mathematics and physics, and operates in coordination with the International Brain Laboratory.
Our joint work is funded by the Wellcome Trust and by the Simons Foundation. Other projects are funded by the European Research Council and by the UK's Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council.
