Evaluation of the Role and Impact of Regional Chambers

June 2003 - November 2005

Principal Investigator: Mark Sandford

About the project

Commissioned by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and undertaken by Arup and the Constitution Unit, this project evaluated the role of Regional Chambers and to produce a framework for assessing their impact on regional policy. The research includes a feasibility study establishing a baseline of the different roles of Regional Chambers/Assemblies, completed in December 2003, followed by longitudinal analysis of the progress of the Chambers under six headings: transport and planning; policy development; scrutiny; stakeholder engagement; voice of the region; and organisational issues.
