Comprehensive Clinical Trials Unit

The Comprehensive Clinical Trials Unit is a specialist unit set up within the Institute of Clinical Trials and Methodology with a specific remit to design, conduct, analyse and publish clinical trials and other well-designed studies led by UCL Chief Investigators. 

The CCTU provides clinical, statistical and trial operations and facilitates the delivery of high quality, regulatory compliant clinical trials of investigational medicinal products (IMPs) and non-IMP trials. 

The CCTU is a registered CTU with the capability to centrally coordinate multi-centre clinical trials (i.e. having overall responsibility for the design, development, recruitment, data management and analysis of trials) with robust systems to ensure conduct and delivery of clinical trials to the highest quality standard. We have expertise necessary to to deliver trials from concept to dissemination and implementation of research findings.

At CCTU we promote a trial governance structure that supports a compliant, risk-based, proportional approach to the application of regulations.

We have a diversified funding portfolio ranging from National, Charity and Industry Funders, we currently work with the following Funders (the list in not exhaustive):

Surgical Intervention Group

Surgical and Interventional group are part of CCTU. Led by Prof Kurinchi Gurusamy and Dr Snehal Pinto Pereira from the Division of Surgery and Interventional Science, SIG will help with the design, conduct, and analysis of surgical trials and trials related to conditions traditionally treated with surgery.

Most of our trials have a dedicated e-mail address for trial sites to direct enquiries to. The inbox is monitored by the trial team while the trial is active. Once the trial is closed, the e-mail address is closed and all enquiries should be directed to cctu-enquiries@ucl.ac.uk.

If you are interested in participating in a clinical trial that is managed by CCTU, we would encourage you to discuss the trial with your GP/treating clinician so that they can refer you to your local participating site where appropriate.
