Dr Peter Zusi

Peter works on nineteenth- and twentieth-century literature and philosophy in Czech, German and English. He has particular interest in the theory of modernism and the avant-garde; in philosophies of history; and in the relation between literature and visual culture, especially architecture. He is also interested in the relation between cultural expression and political resistance, and this side of his interest has led to active involvement in establishing the FRINGE Centre, organized by SSEES and housed at the UCL Institute of Advanced Studies.

He studied at Yale (BA) and the University of Chicago (MA, PhD), and taught for several years in the Slavic department at Harvard before coming to UCL. His current book project is on Kafka and Czech modernism.
