Children of all ages may experience pain as a result of illness or its treatment. Better understanding of how the nervous system processes pain is required to determine the most effective treatments.
Members of the Paediatric Pain Research Group are involved in all aspects of translational research, including:
• Multidisciplinary evaluation of acute and chronic pain conditions, including assessment of pain experience, sensory function, and cortical pain processing;
• Clinical analgesic trials;
• Laboratory-based neurobiology research
Our research collaborations include specialist teams at Great Ormond Street Hospital, and nationally and internationally recognized pain researchers.
