Research summary

Dr Nazif Alic is interested in how changes in gene expression drive the plasticity of adult physiology and lifespan in the fruit fly. His work forcuses on transcriptional regulation, encompassing both specific transcription factors as well as the basal transcriptional machinery.

Teaching summary

Dr Alic’s teaching is primarily on the topics of ageing and gene regulation. He is the lead for the Diseases of Ageing module. In addition, he teaches on the Biology of Ageing and Advanced Molecular Biology.

Dr Alic completed his studies at the University of New South Wales, Australia. His first postdoctorate was on the biochemistry of transcription by the yeast RNA polymerase III, with Drs Carles and Riva at Commissariat à l'énergie atomique, France. He arrived to UCL as an EMBO/Marie Curie fellow to work with Prof Partridge. He started his own laboratory at UCL in 2013.
