Farewell, Chris Taylorson (1955-2023)
21 July 2023
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of our former colleague, Dr Chris Taylorson.
Chris spent his entire professional life at UCL, starting as a lab technician in 1974, later completing his PhD, part-time, then becoming a Research Fellow and eventually on to Senior Lecturer, Admissions Tutor and a passionate Outreach Lead for the Division.
He was most loved by our undergraduate students owing to his bubbly personality and boundless energy for assisting students under all circumstances. He had a tremendous enthusiasm and love for Biochemistry, SMB and UCL.
Many of us have worked alongside him for many years and will be deeply affected by the news. For a glimpse of his personality, you are invited to read this interview with Chris by UCL Spotlight:

Chris retired in 2019 but unfortunately, a year ago, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Via Facebook he shared the details of his disease and treatment from the perspective of a biochemist with his many followers, many of whom were current or former Biochemistry students.
Chris will be greatly missed by all.
